Out & About

The world outside our front door is one of our greatest classrooms.

We are a very active little group and spend lots of time outdoors, exploring Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.

I believe some of the best learning happens naturally through real experiences — running, climbing, exploring, getting muddy, discovering nature and simply having the freedom to be children.

Not every adventure needs to be a big one. Sometimes the simplest outings create the best memories — splashing in puddles, collecting sticks, throwing pebbles into the sea, having a picnic or stopping to investigate something interesting we discover along the way.

Learning Beyond the Home

Our adventures take us to parks, woodland, the beach, playgroups, music groups, the library and many other places in our local community. We also enjoy occasional special days out and explore further afield during the school holidays.

I love watching children experience the changing seasons — collecting leaves and conkers in autumn, wrapping up for winter walks, looking for the first signs of spring and enjoying picnics and outdoor adventures in the warmer months.

Being out and about gives children opportunities to develop their confidence, independence, physical skills, communication and understanding of the world around them. They learn to take manageable risks, interact with other people, make friendships and become confident members of their community.

Whatever the weather, there is always something to explore, discover and learn.
